Locust Update for Southern Victoria

It’s no longer IF but WHEN

Adult locust sightings have been reported as far south as Mornington Peninsular and particularly around the north central and eastern areas of Melbourne.

All growers in southern regions need to be vigilant and prepared for possible locust attacks and keep an eye on the DPI’s locust website :

www.dpi.vic.gov.au/locusts

Locusts are on the wing. With prevailing winds it will be only a matter of days before adult locusts from the northern regions arrive in southern regions.

Growers should seek expert advice from their chemical reseller or agronomist as to which treatment best suits their situation.
