Lettuce Aphid – Baby Leaf crops

Key Points:

  1. Baby leaf crops may be harvested more than once (some crops up to 5 times)
  2. With multiple harvests the crop may well be in the ground for a long period
  3. This will be more critical during Winter and Spring when crops are in the ground much longer
  4. Seedlings treated with imidacloprid will have protection for 8-10 weeks from treatment
  5. With plants that are in the ground for periods longer than 10 weeks, resistant cultivars should be used OR an alternative aphicide should be used after 10 weeks
  6. Loose leaf crops do not heart and alternative aphicides will provide good control
