The Victorian Government is pushing ahead with its $300 million role in relocating Melbourne’s Wholesale Fruit and Vegetable Market to Cooper Street, Epping.
Acting Major Projects Minister Tim Pallas has called for registrations of interest from the construction industry to build the new wholesale market.
The project involves moving the Melbourne Wholesale Fruit and Vegetable Market from Footscray Road to a greenfield site at Cooper Street, Epping, with the Government providing $300 million to build the main trading floor.
Mr Pallas said concept design work was completed and businesses should register their interest in the construction of the new multi-million dollar central wholesale Market which includes a trading floor, stores and flower market.
Registrations of interest close on Tuesday 9th December 2008 with construction expected to begin in late 2009.
