Better Services to Farmers is a new service delivery initiative from the Victorian Government.

In the new delivery model, DPI will collaborate with other service providers, to ensure growers receive better access to services relevant to their business success.

Horticulture program manager Euan Laird, said DPI has invited industry associations to help improve services to farmers by employing co-funded Industry Development Officers.

Mr Laird said many industry groups were trying to “do good work” but declining memberships did not provide them with a solid funding base.

Mr Laird said the IDOs would take on technical and agronomic roles while DPI staff would focus on Government priorities including water, climate and biosecurity issues.
