Growing Leaders 2010 is a program designed for people wishing to take up leadership roles at all levels of the vegetable industry – workplace supervisors, business leaders and industry representatives. Growing Leaders 2010 is talored for the vegetable industry and has been designed in consultation with the industry and 2009 program graduates to meet key needs identified in Vegvision 2020. All sectors of the industry are encouraged to apply including those involved in: growing, harvesting, processing, extension, exporters, importers and marketing. These roles maybe at a sector or regional level but participants may also have national and international leadership aspirations. The focus, of the program is for participants to develop an understanding of how to impact positively, resulting in constructive outcomes for the vegetable industry at all levels. The program will help you develop skills for personal, business and industry situations and covers:
The 2009 program had participants ranging from policy development at a federal level through to vegetable growers in Tasmania and hydroponic growers to Industry Advisory Committee members. Graduates have begun applying their skills in wide variety of areas including regional network development, regional and state industry association boards and reference committees and effective business and workplace management. The vegetable industry encourages applications from all sectors of the vegetable supply chain. There are three residential workshops:
Program costs are $500.00 per participant which includes most meals, training materials and learning support throughout the six months of the program. Program participants who are directly involved in growing and managing product will be eligible for FarmReady reimbursement. This is a no-cost program for growers all costs are reimbursed.
