Woolworths backing our farmersCongratulations to Woolworths and their customers for raising over $17 million for farmer aid in the past three years.

This years Woolworths “Backing Our Farmers” day raised a record $7,065,546 for rural communities.

This is what a community is built on, helping each other out in times of need.

All money is distributed through the Country Women’s Association in each state to help with the basic needs of farming families.

A third of the funds will go to Landcare to provide farmers with practical tools, skills and information to better manage their farming operations in a sustainable way.

Some money will also go towards community initiatives and small infrastructure projects.

Woolworths director Greg Foran, said the company was committed to supporting Australia’s farmers and the communities in which they work and live.

“This is a fantastic show of support from both urban and regional shoppers all keen to do their bit to help Australian farmers”, Mr Foran said.

Woolworths have also made an additional $1 million donation to the Australian Red Cross for emergency relief in Victoria and $150,000 to the Queensland Premier’s Flood Appeal.
