These field-day notes report on a Parsnip variety trial, conducted from June to December 2011, in the Cranbourne area. Previous research has implicated Pythium species in parsnip root rot. During the trial 12 parsnip varieties and a Hamberg parsley were evaluated for disease resistance, yield, foliage colour, vigour and susceptibility of seedlings to Itersonilia fungal leaf spot. Itersonilia is often associated with parsnip canker.
