Welcome to the second issue of “VegNET Gippsland”, a monthly newsletter sent to your email Inbox for the life of the project by Industry Development Officer, Shayne Hyman. Your feedback will keep it relevant! shayne.hyman@eastgippslandfoodcluster.com.au
Gippsland’s vegetable capacity building project is funded by Hort Innovation using vegetable levies and funds from the Australian Government. The project is delivered by the East Gippsland Food Cluster. The Cluster’s value are: Collaboration, Innovation, Excellence, Sustainability, & a Fair Go. This project is all about increasing productivity and profitability for vegetable growers through the adoption of R&D, and, better communication all round.
Spring is here !!
Ground prep, bed forming, planting, worrying about water security, biosecurity plans, confirming contracts, inducting new workers, trialling new equipment, safe work practices – it’s all happening on farm in Gippsland, in readiness for what we all hope will be a fabulous harvest season from November until April 2018.
Are you doing your bit? As Darren Keating (PMA ANZ) suggested – eat one more serve of vegies per day at a value of $1 per week for the 20 mil Aussies who eat vegetables, adds more than $1 bil to the industry per year.
